Be Natural Music Students Selected for Exclusive Performance with Go-Go’s Jane Wiedlin
Be Natural Music celebrates as two students join exclusive “super group” for historic Santa Cruz performance.
We’ve always believed that exceptional music education opens doors to extraordinary opportunities. This week, that philosophy was validated in the most incredible way when two of our dedicated students were personally selected by Go-Go’s guitarist Jane Wiedlin to join her exclusive performance group.
Marek Fulop-Furlano, 18, and Dylan Von Elgg, 15, took the stage alongside the rock legend last July 17th at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History as part of the groundbreaking “Legends Live & Local” series. This wasn’t just a performance – it’s a mentorship opportunity that bridges generations through the universal language of music.
The Journey to This Moment
Marek’s musical journey began at age 8 with his first guitar, but as he tells it, he “got serious” at 10 and has been dedicated ever since. His approach to practice embodies everything we teach at Be Natural Music: “It’s very fun—never a chore to practice. I always do it.” During the pandemic, when many students struggled with motivation, Marek played “all day,” using music as both an outlet and a growth opportunity.
Dylan, our youngest performer in this super group, has already proven himself on local stages at Abbott Square, Felton Music Hall, Woodstock’s Pizza, and Woodhouse Blending & Brewing. When asked about performing, he lights up: “It’s an adrenaline rush.” But he also understands the work required: “You have to work really hard.” His dream? “I would love to rock out!” in large venues and stadiums.
More Than Just a Performance
This opportunity represents everything Be Natural Music School stands for. We don’t just teach notes and rhythms – we develop complete musicians who are ready for real-world opportunities. The fact that Jane Wiedlin specifically chose our students speaks to the quality of education and character development we provide.
The day before the performance, both students will participate in an intimate rehearsal session with Jane Wiedlin herself, learning three songs she’s personally selected. This one-on-one mentoring with a rock legend is the kind of experience that shapes careers and creates lasting memories.
Building Tomorrow’s Music Community
As part of Event Santa Cruz’s vision to make Santa Cruz a hub for media and creativity on the Central Coast, this event creates an ecosystem where established artists mentor emerging talent. Our students aren’t just performing – they’re becoming part of a legacy that connects past, present, and future generations of musicians.
This is exactly why we founded Be Natural Music School: to create opportunities for young artists to develop their skills, build confidence, and connect with the broader music community. When our students succeed, our entire Santa Cruz music scene grows stronger.
The Future is Bright
This achievement showcases what’s possible when young musicians receive quality instruction, dedicated mentorship, and opportunities to perform. At Be Natural Music School, we’re not just teaching music – we’re nurturing the next generation of artists who will shape Santa Cruz’s musical landscape for years to come.
Congratulations to Marek and Dylan! We can’t wait to see you rock the stage with a true legend.
